Mammoth Screen mentors at Sedgehill School

Over the last few months Sedgehill School has been working with Mammoth Screen to set up an exciting new Guide Mentoring Scheme. Mammoth Screen are a critically acclaimed TV drama production company who’ve recently produced Poldark in the coveted Sunday 9pm slot on BBC1 and Endeavour which is currently on ITV. After an application process where students had to explain why they wanted to be part of the project and research the TV company, five sixth form students were selected. The students will have the opportunity to meet, email, and pick the brains of their mentor as well as the chance to gain some work experience in pre-production, filming or post production on Mammoth’s projects.

Yousef, one of the lucky year 13 students to be selected, wrote “the television industry is one of the most difficult to get into and I hope I can learn, in depth, more about it from the professionals and gain some valuable work experience.”

Julia Scannell CEO commented” Sedgehill School will always strive to provide opportunities for our students to secure foundations for their bright futures; this is an amazing opportunity for five of our sixth form students and we would like to thank Mammoth Screen. I also know that they are very impressed with our students and are very excited about working with them.”

Veronica Castillo, Head of Production for Mammoth Screen, commented “We’re absolutely delighted to be starting 2016 with this new mentoring initiative between us. And we have every confidence that everyone involved will take away something very positive from this experience. Our aim is to share our skills and knowledge on a variety of projects, to inspire, guide and advise.
